Chin Advancement

Chin advancement corrects a weak chin. There are two approaches: Chin advancement, the superior method, is the process of dividing the chin bone and sliding it forward through a small incision inside the mouth. Because of the bone sliding, the jaw is actually lengthened removing any small double chin. This creates a beautiful aesthetic result using no artificial materials.

Chin augmentation is the process of placing a silastic implant through a small incision inside the mouth or under the chin. This approach tends to appear less natural because of the bulkiness of the implants and the tendency for these implants to shift.

The only time an implant is preferred to an advancement is when the weakness of the chin is minimal.
